About the Event

The 7th annual Run for the Cheetah will be returning to the Oregon Zoo for a fun run/walk designed to raise awareness about the endangered cheetah and to raise funds to support the Cheetah Conservation Fund’s programs. The unique 5K and 8K courses start and finish at the Oregon Zoo and wind through the beautiful Washington Park.

The Kid’s Dash is a 1/2 mile sprint through the Zoo grounds and past all of the curious animals. Visit our kid’s activities booth for face painting & other fun activities.

Personal Fund Raising

The Run for the Cheetah is a fundraiser, and as such, we need your help and participation! There are 2 simple steps:

  1. Show your support by making your own donation to the cause. When you register, you will get your own pledge page where you can donate.
  2. Amplify your giving: send your pledge page to friends and family and ask them to sponsor your participation.

We are asking that each participant try to raise at least $50, but there are benefits to raising more!

We need your help and participation!

The Run for the Cheetah is committed to returning 100% of the pledges raised to the Cheetah Conservation Fund

Championship Timing

All competitors (runners & walkers) in the 5K and 8K will receive a Timing Chip in their race packet. You must wear the Chip (per instructions) if you want to receive your race time. Any participant who does not wear the Timing Chip will not receive a finish result. Also, the Timing Chip is disposable so it does not need to be returned at the conclusion of the event. If you do not wish to be timed, feel free to give the Timing Chip back to the volunteer when picking up your packet.

Age Groups

Competition will be held in both the 5K and 8K events for the following men’s and women’s age groups: 12 years & under, 13- 15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 years and over, Clydesdale (men 198 lbs or more), Athena (women 150 lbs or more).

Awards will be presented, at the conclusion of each race, to the Overall Male and Female finishers, the top Masters Male and Female finishers, Junior Male and Female (18 & under), Super Master Male and Female (60 & over), as well as the top three male and female finishers in each age division in the 5K and 8K events.
